Sayyiduna Qaloon

His name was Easa bin Menaa'. He was the slave of Madani Zuraqy and ZuhrTeen, and was a scholar and teacher of Grammer. His kunya was Abu Musa and nickname was Qaloon. It is said that Imam Nafi' gave him this nickname of Qaloon due to his recitation being strong, because the word Qaloon refers to something strong in the Roman tongue. He studied and learned directly from Imam Nafi', and this Sanad (chain) to the Prophet SAW has been mentioned before.

It is recorded that Imam Qaloon was actually deaf in the ears, but miraculously, he would not stutter nor err one bit when he recited the Qur'an. He died in the year 225AH in Madina Munawwara at the age of 100. Rahimahullah.
